March 2021 birthday party for SOS children

Glimpses from the amazing musical  evening

The Corona times are still looming over, but for mental health, it is of utmost importance to the keep away the gloom. At SOS village Multan, significant efforts are made by Mahnaz Fareed and her team to keep the children raised there, mentally healthy and happily connected with the world.

For the purpose, whenever is the chance, different events, like carnivals, fairs, musical evenings are arranged and people are invited over to spend time with them.

In the month of March, Corona restrictions were relaxed and activities were allowed by the government. Following SOPs, on the Ides of March, a beautiful musical evening was arranged to celebrate the birthday of SOS children born in the month.

The sitting arrangements were done in the open air, in the lush Green lawns, surrounded by the majestic, lofty trees, in the remarkable piece of architecture that the building of SOS village Multan is.

The hostesses for the event were Afia Khizer, Afshan Hamid, Amna Dogar, Asma Arsalan, Attia Shereen, Ayesha Khwaja, Farha Waseem, Najia Shahbaz, Sobia Omer.

There was hi-tea for the guests and the event started with the cake cutting ceremony for the birthday children. Each birthday child had his/her own cake to cut.  Mahnaz Fareed announced their names, wished them well and made entire SOS village and all the friends of SOS village, sing, happy birthday song for them.

Remember folks! Mahnaz has an amazing role in the lives of all these children, she is a mother to them all. Most of them arrived here, when they were toddlers, but it was her vision and devotion, alongwith her team, which shaped their personalities and also remains truly committed to developing their paths to successful careers, not just ordinary, but the best in life, that can be.

Hania Shahid, the treasurer and organizer of 'friends of SOS committee' also addressed the gathering and admired the efforts and generosity of the hostesses and of the friends of SOS present at the occasion.

Sir Kamran is the incharge of the ' SOS Youth house', alongwith being member of administration at 'SOS Herman Gmeiner school' and SOS village Multan. He welcomed the guests and thanked them for their presence and went on to invite the star of the evening, the musical band, Z.Xs.

Seasoned entertainers that they are, when they arrived on the stage, there was not a dull moment. Mr. Younas Khan and Mr. Kashif, had a song for everyone. They invited children of SOS on the stage, who amazed the audience with cartwheel tricks, break dance, bhangra and other dance steps.

The swag, the energy, the enthusiasm of SOS children, sure spoke for the congenial atmosphere provided at premises of SOS Multan. It was evident, they are indeed nurtured with care and with love. Their latent talents are explored, brought out and polished to shine in the world.

They were all dressed beautifully, t
heir eyes full of spark for a bright future, brimming with self assurance that their existence mattered and this beautiful event, at their own village, was enough of a proof of it.

This is the reason, we specially encourage all our readers and followers of this blog, to contribute more towards SOS village Multan. We have seen its system, inside and out. This is one place, where lives of abandoned and underprivileged children are shaped anew.

This is one place, where your zakat, kherat and sadqa is utilized according to your instructions. So, just go ahead and approach SOS village Multan and donate to make a change for the better

Well done team 'SOS village Multan' & 'friends of SOS Multan'. Keep up the good work.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists fo

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th
