Debates at Herman Gmeiner school, SOS village.

SOS village, is such a well known project that, it does not require any introduction. In Multan, it is being headed and run by the very capable, visionary of a personality, Mrs. Mahnaz Fareed. This young, bright & beautiful lady, has dedicated herself, to a task so divine, which raises her status among angels in this world. This remarkable woman is not only a loving mom to her own kids, but has taken hundreds of orphans and abandoned children in her protection, under  the shelter of SOS village.

Herman Gmeiner is also a project of the SOS village, another feather in the wings of gorgeous Mahnaz. Who was first, to dream of a school, which provides quality education and atmosphere, like any of the highest ranking, expensive schools of this country, but is affordable for the children of low income group. A determined soul that she is, after she  achieved the target of getting a perfect set up of buildings for sos village. She extended her efforts, further to educate children of this facility. This dream of hers' came true, in form of Herman Gmeiner school. Which boasts of a conspicuous building and highly qualified faculty of teachers. She then, started striving, day and night, to beautify the lives of the children, dependant on her.

The realization of the importance of extra curricular activities in the academia, stands affirm. And under this cognizance, this school holds innumerable activities, including debates contests, etc. In the previous weeks, declamation contests were arranged among the children of different classes. Children participated with great enthusiasm. And their confidence, creativity, commitment & spirit of effort, was a treat to watch. It was apparent, it is no charity school, but something, even better of a highest degree, which invokes in its' pupils, the aspiration to become winners in every field of life. We congratulate, Mrs. Mahnaz Fareed, along with her friends, Rameen Anis, Hania Shahid, Saadia Yaqub, who serve as supporting pillars for her, in running this facility. Also, the students, teachers and staff members of the school, for conducting such an excellent quality of program. Hats off to all of you. Keep up the good work.

Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th...

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th...

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too.
