SOS Committee by Mrs. Anjum Sohail.

Mrs. Anjum Sohail, is one of the most prominent ladies of Multan. Not only, because her entire family holds celebrity status in this city and she is among the top socialites, but also because of her sweet, kind & affectionate nature. She is among those, who bow down in humility, with every blessing Allah bestows on them. Daughter of the owner of hotel 'Ramada, Multan', Mr. Hameed Sheikh. Wife of eminent businessman, Mr. Sohail Sheikh. Sister in law of the most prettiest & cutest girl in town, Saima Faisal, Anjum has an endless list of references of popularity to her credit. Not to forget, her loving & caring nature, which is of course, the most distinguished characteristic of her personality.

It was Anjum's turn to host a party in SOS village committee for the month of May. She took pains, to personally call, all the '115' members of this committee. NO, you've not mistaken, the number of members in SOS committee is indeed, one hundred & fifteen. Headed by (Katrina Kaif of Multan) Hania Shahid, thanks to this well-connected lady, this is the biggest committee of  this city. Meant for raising funds for the children of 'SOS village, Multan', members are informed before joining it, that, when its their turn, to receive the amount & host a party, they will have to donate, half of the sum to this noble cause. All the pretty, prominent, social, generous, happening, young women and many of such senior ladies of the yester-years, are included in the members.
Although, the turnover of members, is generally not as big at other parties, but, one could predict, it had to be maximum at Anjum's party. On Friday, 17th May, the entire area of 'Shang's palace', the Chinese restaurant of Ramada, was filled with members to attend the party by Anjum Sohail.

& a little tip from the writer of this blog, every time, you are invited at a party in Ramada, by any of the owners of this hotel, including Anjum Sohail, Saima Faisal or Zeba Javed, skip all your meals of the day, (if not few days ahead) because the variety & quality of appetizing cuisine is always so scrumptious & sumptuous, that you will repent if you missed even a single thing or don't have enough space in your belly.

An excellent event for an excellent cause, a party to remember for a long time. Congratulations Anjum for your efforts.

An overseas Pakistani and former Multan resident, i was really disappointed reading this blog. It just chronicles the social hob nobbing of the elite overweight aunties of Multan. I was hoping that you would comment on the problems faced by the orphan kids and if any one of these ladies dared to step out of their air conditioned BMW's to do volunteer work there. In the future don't waste blog space and people's time!

Well, we do respect what u said, whoever u're, Anonymous. Everything has its own purpose, this space here is for 'social events'. As I mentioned in my profile, I want to project the beautiful side of our country/city , to the world to see, who have blindfolded themselves with negativity about our people, about us.

& for ur information, these very people u see here are involved in a lot of charity work. If u had bothered to read, half of the amount collected that day was donated to SoS village, Multan. Almost 80 thousand Pak rupees & every month, these women contribute this much, alongwith providing little treats for Sos kids. & many of them, take time out from their busy schedules, to spend time with such kids at Sos village.

If u're disappointed with this blog, I'm disappointed in YOU, when our representatives abroad only want projection of poverty, misery & pain spread everywhere,no wonder, the world will look at us as a nation of beggars. But I love my city & my country & want to show it to the world, we're happy & thriving here. Better than those, who left Pakistan for better lives, but still remain miserable abroad.

M.G.M. Swimming pool.

View of the domes of MGM bulding from inside the pool. The crystal clear blue water. Chairs lined up for the spectators. Little pool for the toddlers. Summer is finally here, although, the weather still turns unpredictable at times. But still, one feels like taking a dip in the cool, cool water of a crystal clear pool.  M.G.M (Multan Garrison Mess. Commonly known among  Multanis, by its' old name 'services club'), opens up, pool doors for all its' members every 15th of April. The pool is open air, so it works on seasonal basis. From April to September/ October (if weather allows it).  Last year, the pool remained open, only till May, after that, it was shut down for renovations & could not be reopened because of the 'dengue' scare. MGM pool has always been, undoubtedly the biggest & the best in this city, with an excellent filtration plant to boast & an extremely dedicated team of military men as workers, for maintaining th...

Annual debates at SOS Herman Gmeiner school

Glimpses from the event When you first visit SOS Herman Gmeiner school Multan, you are amazed by its majestic architectural design, beautifully decorated class rooms, functional libraries, meticulously pruned playgrounds, clean walkways and glistening environment. You look at the well mannered, disciplined, full of smiles students, extremely efficient staff members, all this makes you believe that this must be a high end school. To be honest, it is equally great in all its standards. Rather better in some, as they have Rosetta Stone library, through its audio/video English learning methods, children of this school have acquired exceptional accents and perfect pronunciations. Each student has access to laptop in computer class, their teachers use smartboard alongwith blackboard. Even their teachers are assessed and guided with the help of executive committee members. There is a subject of  'general knowledge', which is based on the colorful books in their library, it requires th...

Leading lady of Multan Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar

Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar is a name synonymous with women empowerment in entire South Punjab. She is a living proof of the saying, 'empowered women, empower other women'. She became a member of Majlis-e-shurra of Pakistan and served at that position from 1982 to 1985 and dedicated herself for the betterment of underprivileged women of South Punjab.  Mrs. Farrukh Mukhtar was fully aware of the talents of the women of this area and knew how their skills were exploited at home and at work. She was determined to uplift and raise their standards of living, through education and trainings. She was among first people to ever demand a separate university for the girls of Multan and remained persistent about it. Finally, it bore fruit, three decades later, in form of women's university Multan.  Not just education, but she has worked for the social and economic empowerment of the women too. She is the president of Ladies club Multan. A social platform, which exists fo...
